Ruth M. (Noel) Mitchell, 94, of South Grafton, died peacefully in her home, surrounded by those she loved, on Friday, December 18, 2020, after a long illness.
Her husband of 39 years, Alvin C. Mitchell, died in 1987.
She leaves two sons: Bruce J. Mitchell of Upton, and Edward C. Mitchell and his wife, Ann M. (Mioglionico) Mitchell, of Uxbridge; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers: Henry Noel of Upton and Ernest Noel of Millbury; three sisters: Blanche Aubin of South Grafton, Bernice Geer of Uxbridge, and Rita Dion of Worcester; nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by her parents, Simon and Hermeline (Laferriere) Noel; a brother, Simeon "Sam" Noel; three sisters: Alice Noel, Cecile Linnell, and Mabel Charpentier; and a stepsister, Anne Hutchowski.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in the Farnumsville village of South Grafton on April 14, 1926, where she lived until she moved to Northbridge in 1948; she returned to Farnumsville in 1988. She attended Grafton High School for a year before she left to enter the workforce during World War II. She was a member of St James Catholic Parish for many years and a former member of St. Peter's Catholic Parish in Northbridge.. She was an accomplished artist working in oils, an expert seamstress, and a person who excelled at many different crafts.
Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Mrs. Mitchell's funeral service and burial in Central Cemetery, Millbury, will be private. There are no calling hours. Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, is assisting the Mitchell family with the arrangements.
