Raymond P. Blette, 87, was stricken ill and died in his home in Northbridge on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
He leaves three godchildren he adored: Susanne J. Adams and her husband, Raymond E. Adams, of Uxbridge, Joy A. Green and her husband, Richard D. Green. of Whitinsville, and Scott R. Nadeau and his wife, Shannon (Coggins) Nadeau, of Worcester; and many cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Noel J. and Eva F. (Brunelle) Blette.
A lifelong resident of Northbridge where he was born on September 15, 1933, he was a 1952 graduate of Northbridge High School and a 1954 graduate of Becker Junior College, Worcester.
Mr. Blette worked for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette for 41 years before he retired in 1995. He was also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Parish in Northbridge, where he sang in the folk group and the Funeral Mass choir, volunteered as a Youth Council advisor and taught in the Christian Education Program for many years.
He loved to travel, especially trips to New York City to see Broadway shows, and he enjoyed watching the patriots and the Red Sox on TV. In his younger days, he coached little league for several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Blette at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 12, 2021, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 39 Church Ave., Northbridge. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Whitinsville will follow the Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with his family in the church on Monday morning between 9:30 and 10:30 A.M., before the Mass. Please follow all COVID-19 precautions.
