Gloria A. (Maynard) Johnson, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2021, in her home in Fall River, with her granddaughters by her side.
Her husband of 56 years, Richard G. Johnson, died in 2005.
She leaves three sons: Eric R. Johnson and his wife, Gail (Brennan) Johnson, of Sutton, and Jay B. Johnson, Sr. and Steven G. Johnson, both of Millbury; six grandchildren: Jay B. Johnson, Jr., Erika Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Logan Johnson, Morgan Johnson, and Kelsey Bernard; three great grandchildren: Jackson Duquette, Carter Caroselli, and Grayson Caroselli; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Walter F. and Azalea Rose (St.John) Maynard of Sutton, three sisters: Irene Army and Virginia Smith, both of Millbury, and Lorraine Pierce of Brooksville, FL; and five brothers: Leonard Maynard of Raleigh, NC, Franklin Maynard of Northbridge, and Lawrence Maynard, Eli Maynard, and Roger Maynard, all of Sutton.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Sutton on February 5, 1930, and lived there for most of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of David Hale Fanning Girls Trade High School, Worcester.
She was an expert seamstress and tailor who enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking and shopping. She was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society. Her greatest joy, however, was being active in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and hosting Sunday and holiday dinners.
Because of COVID-19, a Funeral Mass and celebration of her life will take place at a date and time to be announced. A graveside service in Central Cemetery, Millbury, will take place at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 28. There are no calling hours. Turgeon Funeral Home, Millbury, is assisting her family with the arrangements.
