Dorothy O'Brien Obituary

Dorothy M. (Chenevert) O'Brien, 86, died in the Rose Monahan Hospice House , Worcester, on Sunday, June 27, 2021, after an illness.

     Her husband of 39 years, Donald J. O'Brien, died in 1991.

She leaves three children: Karen A. (O'Brien) Lawrence and her husband, Norman F. Lawrence, of Northbridge; Michael J. O'Brien and his wife, Debra (Auger) O'Brien, of Webster; and Elizabeth A. (O'Brien) Ramirez and her husband, Vincent P. Ramirez, of Auburn; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Donald L. Chenevert of Northbridge; two sisters: Joan M. Svyzek of Northbridge and Linda Lavalley of Lutz, FL; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred "Jack" and Alice (Malboeuf) Chenevert.

     Mrs. O'Brien was born in Northbridge on August 23, 1934, was raised there, and attended Northbridge schools. She later earned her G.E.D., and completed several community college courses related to her career. During he r lifetime, she resided in Dudley, Sturbridge, Oxford, Grafton, Florida, and Sutton before returning to Northbridge in 2000.

     Mrs. O'Brien worked as a respiratory therapist at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster for many years. She then worked as a home health aide for Companion Care Partners LLC for twenty years before she retired in 2007. She was a former member of Saint Peter's Catholic Parish in Northbridge and, most recently, she worshipped at Saint Mark's Catholic Church in Sutton. Before her illness, she enjoyed occasional trips to Mohegan Sun and Twin River. She also enjoyed reading the daily newspaper and solving crossword puzzles.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 7, in Saint Peter's Catholic Church, 39 Church Avenue, Northbridge. After the Mass, she will be buried beside her beloved husband in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. There are no calling hours. Turgeon Funeral Home, 80 School Street, Northbridge, has charge of the arrangements.
